I am waiting

Oh I’m waiting, I am waiting for the sun to come and shine
For a miracle to be born in this lonely heart of mine.

I am waiting, I am waiting for hope to be reborn
It is here, and then its lost, and I must find it again.

To be married , to be a parent, to these ones that I adore
The greatest joys, but the hardest pain –
And peace, peace so hard to restore.

All I want is peace, and for it I sell my soul
My husband to regain what he thinks I’ve lost
He sells and  loses  even more…

Its not control we need, but love, only love
Love that covers a multitude of sins
Love that allows mistakes, and  believes in fresh beginnings.

Not by might, not by power, but by my spirit
says the Lord
Its not by might that we will prevail, but only in Him
says my Soul.

Oh God, I pray for peace, but more
I pray for You - You to come and restore
The years the locust has eaten

The memories that bind and hurt
The trust that has faltered
The bridge that has been burnt

Too, too many times…

Oh I’m waiting, I am waiting for the sun to come and shine
For a miracle to be born in this lonely heart of mine.

I am waiting, I am waiting for hope to be reborn
It is here, and then its lost, and I must find it again.

This was written in a lonely moment.  My husband encouraged me to put it on the website.  I think it speaks of hope and despair, in that despite the knowledge that as a Christian I have a hope that will never fail, that will never turn its back on me, and is always there, I can still feel moments of despair, especially as feelings are not always dependent on our beliefs but rather our reactions.  Especially also, as I, deal with issues that resurface and resurface over the years.   In many ways this poem was a prayer, for healing for today's and past hurts.  God gives us eternal Hope, most signficantly in the form of his Son, but in many ways I think we keep that flame of hope alight in us by contining to diligently fan it, as we struggle with the up's and down's of life.  As the saying goes ' Hope springs eternal' - and the writing of this poem reignited that hope, and helped to renew the connection with my husband.
